The terms of our agreement. In plain PT-PT, no fine print.

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the Mbongo platform, under Law no. 9/04 (Electronic Commerce Law) and Law no. 15/03 (Consumer Protection Law) and other applicable Angolan legislation.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account on Mbongo, or by otherwise using the platform, you fully accept these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part, you must refrain from using the service.

These Terms constitute a binding contract between you ("User") and Mbongo Tech, Lda., a commercial company under Angolan law, headquartered in Luanda, hereinafter referred to as "Mbongo".

2. Definitions

  • Platform: the web and mobile application accessible at mbongo.app and in its respective official repositories.
  • Account: the user's individual registration, authenticated by email or identity provider.
  • Subscription: active paid plan (Pro or Family).
  • User Content: any information entered by the user (transactions, notes, attachments).
  • Partners: banks, insurers, asset managers and other entities whose offers appear as a catalogue on the Platform.

3. Account

3.1 Creation

To create an account, you must be at least 18 years old, have legal capacity to contract, and provide truthful, accurate and up-to-date information.

3.2 Credentials

You are responsible for the confidentiality of your password and for all activities carried out from your account. We strongly recommend enabling two-factor authentication (2FA), which is free and available in Settings → Security.

3.3 Incident notification

Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access. We are not responsible for damages arising from incidents about which we were not notified in a timely manner.

4. The Mbongo service

Mbongo is a personal financial management platform that:

  • Lets you record and organise transactions, accounts, vaults, goals and investments.
  • Presents analysis, insights and simulators based on the data entered.
  • Aggregates financial product offers from partners (insurance, loans, cards, funds, pensions).
  • Provides educational content (Academy, Tips) written from scratch for the Angolan context.
Mbongo is NOT a financial, banking, insurance, brokerage or asset management institution. We do not hold money, do not execute stock exchange orders, do not issue cards and do not grant credit. We are not authorised or regulated by the BNA, CMC or ARSEG.

5. Plans and payments

5.1 Plans

  • Free: free of charge, with feature limits (1 account, 3 vaults, 50 transactions/month).
  • Pro: 4,990 Kz/month — unlimited features, advanced simulators, AI, exports.
  • Family: 8,990 Kz/month — everything in Pro + 5 profiles and vault sharing.

5.2 Billing

The subscription renews automatically on the same day each month, on the associated payment method, until cancellation. The amounts shown include Value Added Tax (VAT) at the legal rate in force, currently 14% under the terms of Law no. 7/19 (VAT Code).

5.3 Accepted methods

Multicaixa Express, national and international Visa and Mastercard cards, bank direct debit.

5.4 Payment failure

In the event of a payment failure, we automatically retry the charge up to 3 times over the following 7 days. If it fails definitively, the account reverts to the Free plan; you lose access to Pro features but not to your data.

5.5 Refunds

There are no retroactive refunds, except in the cases provided for in article 6 (right of withdrawal) or in situations of failure attributable to Mbongo.

6. Right of withdrawal

Under art. 16 of Law no. 9/04 on Electronic Commerce, you have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days of signing up, without any need to justify it and without any penalty.

To exercise this right, send a message to contratos@mbongo.app or cancel directly under Settings → Plan. We will refund the amount paid via the original method within 14 days.

7. Rules of use

It is prohibited to use the Platform for:

  • Unlawful or fraudulent activities or those that infringe the rights of third parties.
  • Money laundering or terrorism financing (Law no. 5/20 and other prevention legislation).
  • Unauthorised access, reverse engineering, unauthorised automated scraping or denial-of-service attacks.
  • Submitting offensive, defamatory, racist content or content that incites violence.
  • Reselling, sublicensing or making access available to unauthorised third parties.

8. User content

You retain all rights over your User Content. You grant Mbongo only a non-exclusive, free and limited licence to store, process and display that content within the platform itself, for the purpose of providing you with the service.

You warrant that you have the right to submit the content and that it does not infringe the rights of third parties or Angolan law. You take full responsibility for its contents.

9. Intellectual property

The Mbongo brand, the logo, the platform design, the code, the algorithms, the documentation and the Academy/Tips content are the property of Mbongo Tech, Lda. or its licensors, protected by Law no. 15/14 (Copyright and Related Rights Act) and other applicable legislation.

It is expressly prohibited to copy, reproduce, modify, distribute or commercially exploit them without prior written authorisation.

10. Limitation of liability

Mbongo is an informational tracker and aggregator. We are not responsible for:

  • Financial decisions made based on the information or simulators on the Platform — these are merely informational and do not constitute financial, tax or legal advice.
  • Inaccuracies in data entered by the user or in partner catalogues (rates, conditions) that they may change without prior notice.
  • Content, offers or contractual performance of partners (banks, insurers, fund managers). Complaints against them must be addressed to the partners themselves.
  • Force majeure events, temporary unavailability of the infrastructure or third-party interference.

Our maximum liability — where legally required — is limited to the amount you paid Mbongo in the 12 months prior to the triggering event, except in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence, in accordance with mandatory Angolan legislation.

11. Suspension and closure

We may suspend or close your account, with prior notice where possible, in cases of:

  • Breach of these Terms.
  • Risk of fraud or threat to the integrity of the Platform or of other users.
  • Judicial or regulatory order.
  • Prolonged inactivity (24 months).

You can close your account at any time under Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is irreversible after the 7-day grace period.

12. Changes to the terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes are communicated to you by email and within the app 30 days in advance. If you disagree, you can close your account before they take effect — without penalty.

13. Dispute resolution

In the event of a dispute, we undertake to seek an amicable resolution. For complaints, contact us at juridico@mbongo.app.

If no resolution is reached, you can resort to mediation by INADEC (National Institute for Consumer Protection) or, as a last resort, to the agreed jurisdiction.

14. Applicable law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Angolan law. For all matters arising from these Terms, the parties elect as competent the jurisdiction of the District of Luanda, with express waiver of any other, except where a mandatory rule provides otherwise (in particular regarding consumer protection).
